The first-Valerio Melandri Italian blog on fundraising

And yet it moves! (Fundraising ... Italian!)

Data: January 31, 2008

And yet it moves! Galileo but certainly are not the sentence is correct. And yet it moves ... the Italian fundraising. Some young people, a couple of bloggers, two or three operators of fundraising, a few fundraisers, small businesses of consulting, consulting companies become large (200,000 donors who are able to move from a cause other mailings), now burned to the master 100 Forli on fundraising ...

The world of fundraising is changing, it is moving. A world in turmoil, where Daniel , Paul , Francis S and Q Francis . and some others are certainly the newest thing in the world of fundraising for too long "locked", almost suffocated. Now we talk, we discuss, one is confronted, there 'even if you try to write in English posts in his blog to become more' understandable to the international community (and not the broken English of Rutelli on the video presentation of the Portal www.italia.it , but the real one!). And Paul, challenging the attempt, but admirable to do a blog in English in place to do it in Italian . He says:

Dear Daniel,
your decision (to put a seat English, ed) I think it sets out a framework unfortunately is not exciting the Italian third sector. And I do not hide behind the excuse that we are still a few. That the fundraising is still too young Italian.
It seems to me that:
- There is still a lack of professionalism and lack of knowledge, even basic strategic themes;
- Too often we approach this field with the belief that it is enough enthusiasm. But unfortunately there is to study and work, browse, request, test, sometimes toil more than elsewhere, and with lower salaries.
- High specialized training on fundraising has not yet had a major impact on the general and perhaps the Italian young talent is still lacking to dare to confront the security issues that seem unfriendly ... But it's worth it guys!
- The lack of an association or associations of reference (Assif unfortunately still not be) certainly does not help because it leaves the work of public fundraiser without dignity, without a grid of values and shared knowledge, and without real spaces of socialization. You will want to think about the camp? Our work and our organizations will leave there on time?

I remain convinced that this blog, like others who were born in the last year, perhaps accompanied by other spaces (forums, social networks, but also moments of meeting) is the fundamental right to grow a culture of fundraising (donations, but also ) in this country. And in Italian, as can be tiring, it would be better.

But then I know that if we started with this experience it is also because we were looking for confrontation, and we were hungry for new professional knowledge, we wanted to learn to do better this wonderful job ... and in the vast silence that too often our blogs have left is difficult this happen.

In friendship

Seems like a nice view, not superficial, but where this is known as grupposculo youth fundraiser (or professional fundraising) is, by moving the water through the internet. And yet it moves! Eureka! In Italy there is 'a great need for places where you can discuetere and think of "fundraising", beyond the' logic of a "clique", but according to a logic of "gift". That's why we thought the Fundraising Festival . Of which I will talk soon and that my dream would be to start a place of lively and open discussion.

The world belongs to those who can give you empathy. The path taken is certainly difficult to navigate and has big risks: I think the optimism of those who overthrew the primacy of conflict, competitive market, is the trump card.

    Hello Valerio,
delivery with the thanks that have really felt: thanks for the mention of my blog, thanks for the definition of "new thing ..." (obviously shared with all other fundraising bloggers) and thanks to the magnanimity of opinion on my English ;-) .
Unfortunately or fortunately I have not lived through the time when our world was blocked, but I like it, and I really like how things are going now.
The exchange of views, sharing experiences and information through the web I think there is more and more leading to an awareness of "category" as well as to an objective improvement of our work ... maybe it was this idea that you had initially been creating Assif probably just that the timing was not right ... I'm in your same opinion that you are creating a really good humus that can only be good not only our profession but our organizations that directly benefit from the results of our work.
The Festival of fundraising I put it perfectly within this framework and make you my sincere congratulations for the idea ... well also because the web is but a moment of confrontation, in which know each other, talk about work, share experiences and I hope to find time for fun between us all (or at least among a good portion of us) I would say that we really wanted to. Thanks again and good luck for the festival!

    Hello Professor.,
thanks for the nice words. I also feel that things are moving and I like this desire to compete, first-person game, open up to new challenges.

The festival of fundraising is also from this point of view, the event that many of us expected and I am delighted that you not only have we thought, but it is doing to become a concrete thing along with many volunteers at this time we are already working feverishly. I'll be there, tearing those days to any other commitment, because I believe that our profession, our world, have more need than ever for a moment like that comparison, as I continue to think that they also need a strong professional association .
I look forward to seeing you in Castrocaro.
Thanks again and see you soon
