Between an appeal and the other, I find the time to write a fundraising initiative to signal that leaves me somewhat perplexed. Do not know if he got to see (hence the link ) the "Call, Give and Win!" The first sweepstakes with a national telephone numbering in support of scientific research. . Initiative promoted by the Fondazione San Raffaele in collaboration with Telecom Italy, with the aim to contribute to the San Raffaele Diabetes Research Institute (DRI), a research center for the treatment and prevention of diabetes. I found the postcard promotion of competition ( you can download at this link ), in the lobby of my building, along with the normal advertising of supermarkets and the like.
As I was immediately impressed, negatively.
Certainly, the idea is new and original. But I do not find consistent with the principles of fundraising. So you do not teach the joy of giving, but it "spoils" the donor and you risk ruining the market getting used to a material reward, which far exceeds the gadget.
However, it is precisely the idea of competition itself mixed with the gesture of giving that I find consistent and correct.
Should I give and push to donate for the happiness that this gesture I can give and give, not to award a prize ... if there is no return of the curve of happiness that one of the charts in its first lessons I had (almost) excited.

Also I find the clear words of further explanation: "With a maximum charge of 4 € from landline and € 6.90 for mobile phone, everyone can contribute and be rewarded. The amount of the call, less costs and VAT, will be entirely dedicated to research on diabetes. "
Everyone will win? Awards are safe for everyone?
And those which are the "costs" and the VAT?

Actually, my judgment is not so bad. Indeed. It is basically making a bit of 'technology of the hundreds of thousands of peaches charities, parish raffle, with prizes subscriptions, we have all organized in the past, and basically all we have donated in the past. Buy a lottery ticket (or make a phone call to a toll number) because I want to give to charity and then it happens that maybe I win the car or the PC, maybe I do it more willingly, but can not find "intrinsically" wrong. Another story is reporting, but also of seeing that the organization, namely the San Raffaele (probably the best hospital in Europe, certainly the best in many specialties in Italy, or at least is what I refer to medical colleagues), I feel really good to make a judgment.
